FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How many biscuits does each pack make?
It depends! The number of treats you get will vary based on your cookie cutter size and how thick you roll the dough. With the dog bone cutter that comes with each pack, you’ll get about 25-30 treats if you roll the dough to the thickness of a pound coin.

How long do the treats last?
Since we don’t use preservatives, we recommend storing treats in the resealable pouch in the freezer to keep them fresh. They’re ready to go straight out of the freezer, too – no need to defrost if your dog doesn’t mind a chilled treat!

Are there grains in the mix?
Yes, we use organic jumbo oats. As a vet, I chose not to go grain-free because grain-free isn’t necessarily healthier for dogs, and grain allergies are extremely rare (less than 1% of allergies). For most dogs, grains provide valuable nutrients and fibre. Always consult your vet if your dog has specific dietary needs - and do talk to your vet before starting on a grain-free diet as there may be health risks with some.

Do I have to add peanut butter?
Not at all! Peanut butter gives the treats a nice colour and smell, but you can add whatever your dog loves – bone broth, lean bacon bits, cheese, blueberries, carrots, you name it! Feel free to get creative, whether it’s mixing in ingredients before baking or adding toppings like Greek yogurt afterward.

Why bake treats when I can just buy them?
At BarkyBakey, we believe it’s not just about the treats – it’s about the whole experience! Making treats is a fun, bonding activity with your dog, and you get to control what goes into them. Plus, there’s something extra rewarding about knowing they’re fresh and homemade. Not to mention, your kitchen will smell amazing!

Can my dog eat these treats if they have a medical condition?
If your dog has a health condition like kidney disease, liver issues, or diabetes, it’s always best to check with your vet before introducing new treats. Our BarkyBakey mix is designed to help you enjoy a homemade bonding experience with your dog, but we don’t make specific health claims for it.
